Cooking Inspiration

Inspiration for this blog comes from the movie 'Julie & Julia'. Like Julie, even I was drifting about. Seeing the movie, made me realise, see how people can find their happiness in a simple way. For me one of the way is cooking.
Ofcourse cooking inspiration comes from my dear Mother, who is an excellent cook. I am not sure if I will be ever able to cook many of her complicated receipes. These are some attempts to learn and enjoy the adventure. Like Harriet Van Horne said:

"Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with abandon or not at all."

This is what my mother brought to her cooking and created wonderful dishes. So I step on this journey of cooking with an open mind, ready to experience different things and create some wonderful memories.
" Kitchen is the place where meals and memories are made" Annoynymous

Initially, I uploaded my cooking adventures on facebook. Received great feedback from family & friends, asking for receipies. So here they are some of the best dishes I have tried and tasted!!! I would also take this opportunity to thank some family and friends who have shared there receipes with me.

Leave your feedback/comments/ own cooking experiences on the blog, which will keep me motivated to continue on this culinary journey.

Maggie Beer's Upside down Grape Cake

Greetings to all food lovers! Masterchef 2012 season is on again, and I am not missing a single episode. There are so many wonderful recipes shown on the show, that I want to try cooking most of them myself. The list just keeps growing. To start with I tried making Maggie Beer's Upside down grape cake (challenge set up for one of the ellimination rounds). Although it had other two components namely Verjuice and Extra Virgin Olive Oil Ice Cream, with Vino Cotto Raisin and Ginger Wafer, I decided just to go with the Cake. So check out the recipe on this link and give it a go http://www.masterchef.com.au/recipes/upside-down-grape-cake-verjuice-and-extra-virgin-olive-oil-ice-cream-with-vino-cotto-raisin-and-ginger-wafer.htm These are the photos I took at various stages, hopefully they will be helpful. Step 1: Verjuice syrup in the cake pan Step 2: Grapes lining the base over the syrup  Oops I forgot to take the step 3 photos: Cake batter and meringue making ..... :( Step 4: M...
