Falling in love with myself. . . .v
Last post ‘You are enough’ was about being yourself, you are important and stop being self-critical. It is feeling better about yourself, knowing and accepting your imperfectness. It involves loving yourself, being accepting toward yourself and most importantly looking within oneself. So for 2021 I am ready to fall in love with myself. Self-love for me is in appreciating me as a whole package with all good and bad, being patient with myself, and spending time with myself.
“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in the world.”
- Lucille Ball
I know there is a long way to go, as it has not been a daily practice. As I wrote the Happiness is.. post I realised that my happiness is not dependent on any external factors, but it needs to start from within. A daily self-affirmation and speaking kindly to myself. No more beating myself for something I have not accomplished, but being kind, by saying that it's ok. One daily practice I have started is having a daily diary and a gratitude journal. The diary is just pouring my thoughts and actions for the day and ending with gratitude for the day. It has helped me with sleeping better with a calmer and more relaxed mind.
Being patient with myself has been the difficult one, to listen to my own emotions of how I feel at times and not respond immediately. Most importantly not rehashing my mistakes and dragging myself to a dark place where negativity takes over. By allowing myself some breathing space, has given me room to grow.
Most importantly I have started spending more time with myself. First step was to spend time doing what I love whether it was art and craft or gardening. Being in the creative mode, experiencing the joyfulness without being judgemental of what I am creating. Sharing with you the latest art created in the process. Some self-affirmations displayed around the house, help me reset my mindset when I most need it. Similar to my Flip Stir Whisk jar on kitchen top, this board is proudly mounted on my garden wall.
